Application Support Specialist

Our client who are a leading financial services organisation in Birmingha are looking for an Application Support Specialist to provide business critical IT application technical support to their business. This will include working on business projects that require application change, continuous improvement of existing systems and processes, handling support calls from users and working with third party software companies to resolve issues.

Key Responsibilities

* Administering and supporting the Finance IT systems platform, associated platforms and applications
* Development, configuration and support of key internal and external system interfaces using a mix of tools, including, eg: SQL, Microsoft PowerShell, Microsoft C# and batch scripting.
* Development, configuration and maintenance of internal tools used by the Motor IT team to support the Motor IT platforms.
* Working with internal and external technical and business analysts to log, analyse, route and track application issues from discovery through to final resolution

Skills Required:

* Demonstrable experience of developing and maintaining batch and scheduled scripts with SQL, batch scripting and MS PowerShell.
* Experience of development of tools and/or applications in Microsoft C# would be advantageous but not essential.
* Experience of SalesForce application configuration and development would be advantageous but not essential.
* A background in financial services would be advantageous but not essential.
* Good problem solving skills with a proactive approach to root cause analysis.
* The ability to understand how applications are configured and operated within a business function.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills; able to listen, question and simplify in order to work effectively with a diverse range of people whose role requires interaction with the 3 rd party system.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook.
* Proficient with Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and pivot table analysis.
* Quality conscious and methodical approach to work, with strong attention to detail.
