Windows Specialist – Active Directory required for an urgent contract with a leading client in South London

The Windows Specialist role is required to complete a full review, clean-up, standardisation and documentation of our clients Microsoft Windows environment. The main focus of the role will be around the Microsoft Active Directory (AD) functions – AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO… etc.. The role will also include other Microsoft functions and other server technologies – File Server Permissions, Office365, Exchange, Citrix / AppSense Policies.

The roles key will be (but is not limited to the following):

* Review the current Active Directory structure & configuration and document.
* Review AD users accounts & computers objects and setup a scheduled scripted process to manage / delete unused objects.
* Work with Key Stakeholders to agree standards and document these standards. This includes creating a standard naming convention and implementing across the existing AD structure, groups etc.
* Review current file server permissions (shares and files) and setup to best practice / requirements. The will also incorporate removal of legacy domain permissions.
* Provide a documented list of AD Groups and what permissions they grant (application and file shares).
* Review the current email groups and identify those no longer used and remove. Also, create a scheduled scripted process to alert of any of these types of groups in the future.
* Review the current Active Directory Group Policy deployment and look to streamline these policies. This also includes policies within the Citrix environment.
* Create a new Windows 10 Group Policy structure that best replicates the existing Windows 7 policies.
* Create role based access to Active Directory

Key Skills and experience needed

* Excellent Microsoft Windows features (e.g. Active Directory , DHCP, DNS, ADFS, DFS/DFSR, Group Policy, Failover Clustering).
* Excellent Microsoft Office 365 cloud knowledge.
* Aware of best tools to complete key deliverables.
* Extensive technical experience in supporting/deploying Windows operating systems
* ITIL Change Management process.
* Aware of best tools to complete key deliverables.
* Extensive technical experience in supporting/deploying Windows operating systems
* ITIL Change Management process.
